U15 – Preliminary Final

CDHA United 2 def AM United 0

An early start and a chilly morning in Stockwell greeted this preliminary final between CDHA United and AM United.

AM United came out pumped and kept the ball primarily in their attacking half for the first ten minutes of the game. They created several changes but did not capitalise on them as a concerted effort, but CDHA’s defenders did their job and managed to keep AM scoreless.

With this all-out attack, AMU left themselves a bit thin at the back so when a short corner broke down a quick clearance by CDHA’s defenders saw Max Price run the ball deep into the AMU half, pass to Jack Goodwin who tempted the AM United’s goalie out and managed to push the ball passed him and over the line to put the first goal on the board for CDHA United.

Half time came and went with AM United determined on equalising but CDHA’s full backs, Nathan Shepherd and Adam Ryan were outstanding in their ability to foil attack after attack.  Both teams had opportunities as the ball seesawed between ends with both winning, but failing to convert the short corners awarded.

AMU were again found lacking in defence when CDHA’s James Cott quickly took a free hit to open up one of the best team plays of the day involving Jack Goodwin, Jaymen Burmeister, Abbie Nourse, Max Price and finally Thomas Lymburn who slipped the ball into the net for the killer second goal.  A great team goal.

A well fought game by both sides. This win by CDHA United gives them a chance for the title next weekend in this their first year in this competition.

B Grade Women – Preliminary Final

CDHA 2 def Trinity 0

A serious game ahead.  Past history was in CDHA’s favour but a tough game none the less.  CDHA came out hard in attack right from the start but the ball pin ponged back and forth, end to end.  Trinity looked dangerous a number of times but tight defence kept them out.  The first goal came from a penalty corner through Rhea Greenshields.  CDHA had the momentum and kept Trinity’s defence busy.  Some good use of passing and working together made it hard for Trinity to break down.  The second half was a repeat of the first with some frustrations setting in.  CDHA kept their cool and kept hungry on the ball.  The second goal was scored through some great passing and finished off by Karri Thomas patiently sitting on the post.  A well fought win by CDHA which gives them a chance to defend the shield for the second year in a row as new kids on the block!!!

CDHA United:

Goals:  Rhea Greenshields & Karri Thomas
