NENA Semi Finals Results

North Eastern Netball Association results of Semi Finals 2016

Results of 2nd Semi Final played Saturday 3rd September at Clare

Eudunda/Robertstown 51 v Min-Man 47

Strong start to the first quarter by the Saints but Min-Man challenged back forcing Saints to make errors.  Saints would pull away by a couple and Min-Man would pull it back which made for a great contest for each ball.  Min-Man gained in confidence each quarter but Saints resilience proved too strong.  A hard fought game by both sides.

RSMU 40 v South Clare 36

A strong contested game that lived up to pre-game predications. South Clare steadied early to open up a good lead and created lots of pressure that had RSMU under great pressure. The next two quarters RSMU played catch up and in the third quarter took over the lead.  Kristy Lewis was a standout shooting accurately and controlling the attack line.  RSMU held on to lead in the fourth quarter and took out the win.  The game was a great competitive and tough match.

Min-Man 37 v RSMU 38

A strong start by RSMU with consistent shooting by Nikki Tralaggan and Lucy Connell.  Min-Man hit back in the second quarter to lead by 2 at half time.  The wet conditions set in and slowed the pace of the game and RSMU applied intense pressure on Min-Man to take out a one goal win.  Even game throughout, weather marking difficult at times.  Great defensive pressure both ends – RSMU stayed settled right to the end which gave them the advantage.

Eudunda/Robertstown 48 v Min-Man 40

Very tight first half with good shooting and strong defence work by both teams.  Min-Man came out strong during the second quarter but Saints fought back to be equal at half time.  The third quarter Eudunda/Robertstown goalies stepped up getting many touches and converting.  Last quarter was even but too late for Min-Man.

North Clare 44 v RSMU 48

A fantastic game by both teams with RSMU coming out strong and at half time having a small lead.  North Clare made some changes in the second half to bring them back closer.  Tash Liddy fought hard in the centre all game but RSMU held strong for a great win.

Min-Man 33 v South Clare 19

Min-Man came out strong right from the start with accurate shooting from Brigitte Smith and Phoebe Graham.  South’s Taylah Werfel and Jen McNeil kept fighting in the centre with many turnovers and strong defensive play.  Third quarter was even as the rain set in.  Min-Man was too strong and won convincingly with great team play.

North Clare 41 v BSR 32

A strong start by both sides with BSR with the lead at quarter time. North Clare settled in the second with fantastic defence from Elyssa Aucote to make it even at the half time break. Changes at half time saw North come out fighting with a very determined BSR Side making the work very hard for their win. Fantastic game by both sides.

North Clare 33 v Blyth/Snowtown 46

An intense first quarter in the rain meant there were turnovers for both teams, with both teams playing even, strong netball. Blyth/Snowtown played a great defensive game all over the court with the Cats limiting North’s scoring opportunities. A fantastic game by game by Annie Cusack and Ella Roberts, supported by accurate shooting by Kasey Bigg and Cartia Jaeschke.  Maegan Boulton had a solid game at Centre for North who missed her drive and were rattled when she went off injured during the second quarter. The Cats girls continued to play consistent netball and progressively increased their lead for a convincing win.

Min-Man 36 v BSR 11

Great first quarter by both teams. In the second quarter Min-Man showed strong defence. They held a strong lead until the end.  Min-man dominated the game after an even first quarter and continued their strong form for the rest of the game with BSR trying hard.

Results of 1st Semi Final played Sunday 4th September at Burra

RSMU 61 v South Clare 48

The game opened well by both teams defending tightly and shooting well.  RSMU kept their noses in front right throughout the game with a couple of goals buffer.  Both goals rings were strong at the beginning, all shooting consistently.  The last quarter saw the hawks get valuable turnovers and extended their lead.  RSMU showed good composure all over the court to run out convincing winners.

BSR 46 v North Clare 49

An even match from the first whistle saw both teams fighting for the ball.  BSR held the lead for most of the game with brilliant intercepting in their defence line. A great contest at both ends with Lauren and Diesy applying pressure to Alicia and Amy in goals.  Chloe Gogoll shot beautifully despite the great pressure from Jess, Claire and Meg. An intense game that went goal for goal, but North Clare won in the end.

Blyth/Snowtown 43 v Eudunda/Robertstown 45

Tight, hard contested game right through out.  Donna Furler and Neve Pratt for Blyth/Snowtown worked well and held on with accurate shooting.  Eudunda/Robertstown made some defensive changes which proved to change it up and lots of pressure causing some vital turnovers in the last few minutes.  Eudunda/Robertstown came away with the win, after a well fought out match.

BSR 60 v Blyth/Snowtown 34

The game started evenly with both teams leading and passing well.  Blyth/Snowtown were strong defensively, rebounding well but not converting.  BSR ramped up their game plan with more intense play and agility through the mid court, creating many turnovers.  Simone Bigg’s experience and beautiful holding in the ring caused BSR a few challenges.  However BSR came through with the win.

Eudunda/Robertstown 43 v South Clare 41

A tightly contested game with both teams constantly fighting for the ball. The first half was very tight, with South Clare holding a 2 goal lead at both quarter and half time.  Eudunda/Robertstown played Nat Handke at half time who had a huge impact, controlling the goal circle and helping their team to settle.  South Clare’s young trio of Lydia, Abbey and Lucy were strong all game and handled the pressure from Saints well.  Last quarter was amazing with Saints turning the ball numerous times, resulting in the Saints winning by 2 goals.

North Clare 42 v Eudunda/Robertstown 29

From the first whistle both teams came firing.  Eudunda/Robertstown claimed the first goal from an early turnover then North Clare answered straight back.  At the quarter break North Clare led by 1.  North Clare ramped up the pressure with tight defence through-out the whole court and by half time had a solid 10 goal lead.  Chloe Bolitho and Sam Booker shot well all game, with great support from Toni Channon at WA.  Eudunda/Robertstown kept up the pressure all game but North maintained their momentum and claimed the win.

RSMU 44 v Min-Man 37

As was written in the pre-match report, this was always going to be an evenly matched game. Accurate shooting by Carly Neil in the first quarter.  Intense second quarter with the lead changing regularly with great intercepts by Abby Griffiths, RSMU leading by 4 goals.  Min-Man came out strong in the third quarter and evened up the game at 29 all.  RSMU were switched on in the last quarter and dominated winning 44 to 37.  MacKenzie Schoenberg (GA) and Molly Ross (GD) worked hard all game for Min-Man, as did Casey O’Toole for RSMU.

BBH 35 v Eudunda/Robertstown 27

An intense beginning with BBH putting their strong foot forward maintaining tight defence, this enabled them to pull a good lead.  Eudunda/Robertstown met that determination pulling together and were able to close the gap and be in-front by 1 goal at half time.  BBH regrouped after half time and played strong one on one defence that created several turnovers that were converted by Georgia Hook.  Eudunda/Robertstown never gave up and Alexandra Handke was solid all game in centre.  Caitlin Squire got plenty of touches and turnovers.

North Clare 30 v South Clare 20

South Clare started with the first goal.  North Clare then took off taking the lead by 8 goals.  Ellie Redden turned nerves into positive energy and played consistently.  Molly Edmondson took some awesome intercepts.  The fourth quarter, South Clare came rolling back with 5 quick goals, but North Clare was too strong and held South Clare at bay.  Taylah Schell moved well in goals and shot well.  All girls played really well.
